Acanthus Sweater - English

Construction:
The sweater is worked top down on circular needles. First stitches are cast on and worked in twisted rib to form the edge of the neck. When the rib edge is finished, 8 stitch markers are placed and the yoke of the sweater is worked in a raglan construction, starting with a few short rows. When the yoke is finished, stitches for the sleeves are transferred to a piece of scrap yarn/stitch holder while the rest of the body is worked. Afterwards the sleeves are worked in the same lace pattern as the body. Both the body and the sleeves are finished with twisted rib edges and Italian cast-off.

Sizes:
The sweater can be done in 5 different sizes: XS (S-M) L-XL (2XL) 3XL which gives the sweater a circumference at the bust measuring 83,5 (97) 111,5 (125) 139 cm.
Before you decide the correct size to knit, we recommend that you measure your bust circumference. If you want a tight fit, go with the size that has the circumference closest to your bust measurement. If you want a more relaxed fit, we recommend a positive ease of 6 – 15 cm. Example: If your bust circumference (or circumference at the widest area) is 89 cm we recommend a size S-M which will have a positive ease of 8 cm.

Knitting gauge:
23 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm in the lace pattern.

Needles:
Circular needles: 3,5 mm, 2,5 mm with 80 cm wires (and 40 cm wires to avoid magic-loop).

Yarn suggestion:
1 strand of Alpaca (50 g = 167 m) from Drops held together with Kid Silk (25 g = 210 m) by Drops. For the sweater shown, Drops Alpaca in color 203 Camel and Drops Kid Silk in color 42 Almond was used.

Amounts:
300 (350) 350-400 (400-450) 450-500 g Drops Alpaca (50 g = 167 m)
125 (150) 150 (175) 200 g Kid Silk (25 g = 210 m).

Other materials:
Scrap yarn, tapestry needle for Italian cast-off, 8 stitch markers.
